PARA COMMANDOS

As early as 1941, military parachute training was conducted in India and later, during the 1965 Indo-Pak War, the Parachute Regiment formed a permanent commando unit, which was designated the 9th Battalion. Since then the battalion and the commando units have distinguished themselves in numberous combat operations. Click here for a history of elite Indian airborne and commando units.

Below members of the Indian Army's 4th Parachute Battalion demonstrate their weapons to Indian paratroopers and U.S. Army and Air Force Special Operations Forces participating in BALANCE IROQUOIS.
